Job Description

Job Title: HR Generalist

Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid 3 days onsite)

Comp: $35/hr +

Contract duration: 3-6 months

Overview

This HR Specialist II position supports a well-established, mission-driven organization with a corporate-style operational environment. The role is responsible for providing high-quality HR services and solutions to internal stakeholders, enhancing workforce capability and engagement. The ideal candidate will be process-driven, detail-oriented, accountable, and mission-aligned , with strong experience in employee relations, policy review, and operational HR functions .

You’ll work closely with a collaborative HR Business Partner team to execute processes and protocols while maintaining integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism. This is a broad and impactful role —you will be included in key discussions and contribute to strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and update SOPs and service level agreements.
  • Manage forms and templates for job requisitions, offboarding, job descriptions, timecards, etc.
  • Draft, edit, and proofread offer letters, disciplinary memos, agreements, and packets.
  • Track contract expirations (visas, contractors, internships) and ensure timely follow-up.
  • Generate recurring HR reports and manage internal HR surveys.
  • Partner on EAD logistics and monitor mandatory training compliance.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including outplacement services.
  • Compile and validate documentation for job eliminations and RIFs.
  • Support job description reviews and HR audits.
  • Maintain employee relations log and assist with meeting support (note-taking, witnessing).
  • Review/proof documentation for ER cases and coordinate necessary signatures.
  • Assist HRBPs with ADA accommodations, short-term leave requests, and other sensitive matters.
  • Collaborate across the HR team to support recruiting, compensation, benefits, training, and systems-related efforts.
  • Provide backup support for HR Director and HRBPs, including documentation, project execution, and cross-functional tasks.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3+ years of HR experience, especially in policy, process, and employee relations
  • Experience in a structured corporate or enterprise environment strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Highly attentive to detail, with strong proofreading and organizational skills
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong judgment, integrity, and discretion; able to manage sensitive topics with professionalism
  • Analytical mindset and a “nothing is too small or too large” attitude
  • Values accountability, collaboration, and contributing to the bigger picture
