Description
Under supervision of a higher level Geographic Information System (GIS) Specialist or other supervisory official, performs professional GIS work relating to the geographic analysis of environmental parameters and or/other factors, image processing, interpretation, and application of remote sensing data; performs geographic data digitizing; operates all computer hardware and software associated with the Geographic Information System; does related duties.
Specific to the Position
Job duties include ArcGIS mapping and layer-revision projects, research on a variety of water quality topics in support of New Jersey’s Water Quality Assessment, Surface Water Quality Standards (SWQS), Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL), community water monitoring, and AmeriCorps Watershed Ambassador (WA) programs. Responsibilities may also include general program support such as water monitoring data organization, and water monitoring site selection.
Preferred Skill Set
Experience with ArcGIS projects to assess monitoring data and data organization skills. Ability to assist in the update of the Integrated Report (IR) StoryMap, SWQS StoryMap, and Watershed Ambassadors data visualization, GIS mapping of NJ data, design of various StoryMap additions and improvements. Ability to work as a team to update components for IR, SWQS, and Watershed Ambassador publications (e.g. graphs, charts, and text of web-based reports). Proficient in R or Python.
Requirements
EDUCATION
Possession of a specific Bachelor's degree in Geography, Environmental Science or related field with twelve (12) semester hours in computer mapping/GIS which shall include spatial programming and digital image processing.

License
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
