Transmission Engineer

Onsite: Maitland, FL

Contract to Hire

The Transmission Engineer will work with the transmission team in assisting project teams in creating world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments on a variety of projects, including underground and overhead high-voltage transmission lines. They will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting transmission line plans according to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the transmission line design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
• Modify and review production drawings for a variety of projects involving high-voltage (69-500kV) transmission lines.
• Design transmission line components for project needs and requirements, including plan and profile drawings, structure load diagrams, and foundation drawings.
• Apply basic knowledge of commonly used civil and structural engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures.
• Conduct research and compile project-related data as required by project managers.
• Compile studies and reports.
• Correct and update drawings provided by senior engineers within multiple CAD-related software programs.
• Assist with client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration for high-voltage transmission line designs.
• Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
• Comply with all company policies and standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (Required), or
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program with successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam (Required).
• Basic knowledge of standard civil/structural engineering techniques, principles, and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
• Demonstrated critical thinking skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Basic knowledge of software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, PLS, PLS-CADD, RISA-3D, MathCAD.
• 3-6 Years of Transmission Experience
• Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team-building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. (i.e., without time limitations, restrictions, or work sponsorship).
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification (Preferred).
